The best known corals, as well as being the most readily
available for the reef aquarium enthusiast, of the family Dendrophylliidae
belong to the genus Tubastrea, and include the "sun coral" (Tubastrea
Faulkneri) and the most unusual "black sun coral" (Tubastrea
Micrantha). The only other commonly found coral species are of the
genus Turbinaria, containing the "cup corals" and "scroll
corals". Corals of this family tend to be very hardy and tolerant
of captive conditions.
