Corals of the family Fungiidae are all solitary species
most commonly found on the surface substrates of reefs and lagoons. Surprisingly,
many of these corals are able to move significant distances on their own
locomotion, despite any obvious physiological means. In reef aquariums
these corals are most often placed in sand beds, which may become problematic
as many of the corals are common only to coral rubble and coarse substrates.
