Many of the coral species in the family Pectiniidae are
plating or encrusting
in morphology. They can be found in spectacular colorations and are common
only to the Pacific ocean. These corals are often readily available to
the reef aquarist, particularly species of the genus Oxypora, such as
the 'Scroll Coral' (Oxypora
Lacera) and the 'Lettuce Coral' (Pectinia
Peaeonia).
