The second largest contributor to reef formations, corals
of the family Pocilloporidae are found primarily in deeper waters. Of
all the genus of this coral family, only Madracis
are found in the reefs of the Atlantic as well as the Pacific oceans.
Many of these corals exemplify the finger
and branching morphologies.
One of the most popular SPS corals readily available to the reef aquarium
hobby currently is the 'Bird's Nest Coral" (Seriatopora
Hystrix), which forms thin branches and is often found in bright pink
and green colorations.
