Like all other genus of the coral family Agariciidae,
Pavonas have thin nearly invisible polyps. Pavona corals range in morphology
from leafy, fragile species to very distinctive star-like patterns as
found in the 'Encrusting Star Coral' (Pavona
Explanulata), a rare and beautiful variation. Pavona corals are very
hardy and excellent early additions to an SPS reef tank.
