Corals of the genus Halomitra are solitary corals as
are the rest of the family Fungiidae. Rarely available to the reef aquarium
trade, these corals prefer somewhat stronger current than the rest of
their family. Most often, Halomitras can be identified by a bright pink
or purple rim and somewhat translucent tentacles. Common names include
'Helmet Coral' (Halomitra
Pileus) and 'Neptune's Cap'.
