With polyps similar in size to those found on Blastomussa
Wellsi, corals of the genus Cynarina are very different for one predominant
reason: each coral only has one single polyp. Because these corals
can grow to be several inches in diameter, it is no surprise that they
have been given common names such as 'Meat Coral' and 'Doughnut Coral'.
With careful handling, these corals can be kept successfully on reef aquarium
sandbeds.
