Most often referred to by its common name, the 'Cauliflower
Coral' and 'Brush Coral', species of the genus Pocillopora are very small
and have a fuzzy appearance. These popular corals are typically fast growers,
and come in a wide variety of colors; including deep pinks, pale purples,
blues and startling purples. Pocilloporas rank second for their contribution
to reef structures, only to corals of the genus Acropora.
In reef aquariums, Pocillopora corals require bright lighting and high
water flow in order to resist disease and maintain their bright coloration,
but when treated appropriately can become the prize of any SPS dominated
reef aquarium.
