Often mistaken for members of the genus Pocillopora,
corals of the genus Stylophora are branching in morphology, with some
of the thickest branches found among stony corals. Many of these corals
develop heavier at the tips of their branches, giving rise to the common
name 'Club Finger Coral'. Stylophoras are beautiful corals, found in colors
including pink, blue, purple and often green. These corals produce stinging
sweeper tentacles, although short enough to pose little threat to corals
placed any distance from larger colonies.
